GOB Menorca begins the 2025-2026 school year with the motto “Learning from nature, caring for the future”. The new environmental education proposal, aimed at all the island’s schools, has a clear goal: to bring nature into classrooms and, above all, to bring students closer to the territory so they can learn directly from it.

The program, which includes workshops, excursions and hands-on activities, adapts to each educational stage and seeks to awaken curiosity, critical thinking and commitment to sustainability..

From first steps to critical thinking

Children aged 2 to 5 will explore the natural world through stories and characters such as Mordala the crab or Taques the Balearic green toad, which allow them to discover the sea and amphibians in a close and playful way. They will also have the opportunity to visit the Wildlife Recovery Center, where they will learn about animals that have needed care and reflect on their protection.

Primary school students will experience the Camí de Cavalls, the beach and the farms under Land Stewardship; the activity “We visit a place” has become one of the most valued by schools and institutes. This educational resource makes it possible to learn about farms distributed across the island with diverse productive models, all sharing a commitment to biodiversity and sustainable management. These visits not only show farming practices that respect the environment but also give students the opportunity to talk with those who manage them and to understand the challenges and opportunities of agriculture that seeks to be part of the environmental solution.

For secondary school, baccalaureate and vocational training, the program incorporates more reflective and participatory activities. Sustainable snorkelling invites students to discover marine biodiversity, while talks on energy and water open spaces for debate on the most urgent environmental challenges.

Support for educational centres

With the aim of ensuring the participation of as many students as possible, many of the proposals are free of charge, thanks to the support of collaborating entities. In certain outings, subsidized transport is provided to encourage the participation of all schools, such as visits to Land Stewardship farms or snorkelling workshops.
