On Saturday, June 13, the Via Menorca campaign is calling a protest action to protect the territory and its inhabitants. After two years of mobilizations, a third season begins, pointing out the course Menorca is taking. Save the date to take part.
A growing buzz is running through the island. The discomfort of the population and natural environments is increasing. It is a call for self-protection, a cry for help in the face of ever-increasing tourist pressure that generates significant impacts on the territory and daily life.
The data are worrying: aquifers continue to decline and no longer recover with winter rains; the most frequented beaches vastly exceed their carrying capacity, with levels reaching up to 400% in some cases; housing prices continue to rise, making access to housing difficult for the resident population; in 2025 we have once again reached an annual tourist record.
Despite this context, the dynamic does not stop. One more year, the engines of the season have been started, with larger figures than ever in tourist promotion and without significant changes in the management of the model. Unlike the other islands, the Island Council has decided not to apply the tourist vehicle limit in Menorca.
Faced with this situation, Via Menorca calls on citizens to mobilize next June 13 to defend the territory and demand a change of course. Save the date so you can attend. More details will be announced soon. The ants are on the move!
