June 5 – Recognition event for GOB’s environmental volunteers at Parc des Freginal in Maó

Next Thursday, June 5, on the occasion of World Environment Day, GOB Menorca is organising a public gathering to pay tribute to its environmental volunteers. This special event will take place at Parc des Freginal in Maó, starting at 6 p.m., and will feature fun and educational activities designed to celebrate and highlight the invaluable contribution of the volunteers who make the organisation’s daily work possible.

Nothing would be possible without volunteers

Since 1977, the year the Menorca branch of GOB was founded, our activities have been carried out thanks to the collaboration of volunteers, along with members and supporters, who make it possible to implement our projects for nature conservation and environmental management.

From the care of animals and upkeep of the Wildlife Recovery Centre to the ecological production of native plants at our gardening centre Es Viver; from supporting farms with stewardship agreements to running our shop at the Claustre Market, leading our children and youth hiking groups, or carrying out environmental monitoring and bioindicator campaigns — hundreds of people regularly and generously dedicate their time, knowledge and energy to help us protect Menorca’s natural environment. This event is meant as a public recognition of their commitment and a collective expression of gratitude.

Activities for everyone

From 6 to 8.30 p.m., Parc des Freginal will host activities for both children and adults. Each of GOB Menorca’s volunteer programmes will be represented with displays, workshops or participatory activities. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about what our volunteers do in a relaxed, festive atmosphere — and to discover the many ways to get involved with GOB Menorca.
