Restoration of the motocross track and other works required

There is now a ruling on the actions that GOB reported to the Urban Planning Enforcement Consortium regarding a property near Binixíquer, where a large racing track had been built, dry-stone walls had been removed, and other urban development operations had begun.

The Consortium has stated that the actions did not have authorisation and did not obtain the corresponding legalisation licence. Therefore, they must be restored or demolished at the promoter’s expense. Among other aspects, this affects:

  • Earthworks over a total surface area of 10,840 m² (motocross track).
  • The demolition of more than 500 metres of dry-stone wall.
  • Foundations for a new building.
  • The diversion of an electrical installation within the property (more than one kilometre).
  • The impact on two caves (one of them listed).

The resolution states that the affected land must be returned to its original condition. The Consortium does not specify the amount of the sanction that is expected to be imposed.

Among the problematic actions observed on the property, the creation of an enormous lawn garden of more than 20,000 m², involving excessive water consumption, remains unresolved. This aspect cannot be addressed through urban planning procedures, therefore GOB has asked the Water Resources department to intervene to redirect the garden towards a design more appropriate to the Mediterranean climate.
