Menorca is part of the GOV4ALL project, which aims to promote agricultural innovation as a solution to soil fertility problems. Within this project, we are looking for 15 farms in Menorca that want to take part in the project, with the commitment to participate in an innovation process on their land for 2 years.
We invite interested people to attend the presentation meeting of this project, on December 4, at 4 p.m., in the cooking classroom of San Crispín (Av. de la Indústria 5, Alaior). The participation requirements and the possibilities of adapting the process to each farm will be explained there.
The project includes participation in several co-creation workshops for the agricultural practices to be tested, technical advice for all participating farms, and scientific study of the effects of the implemented practices. In addition, it will provide a compensation of €5,000/year for each participating farm.
We are looking for 8 livestock farms, 4 horticultural farms and 3 farms with woody crops, both conventional and organic. The practices to be tested will be related to improving soil health, reducing erosion and improving soil moisture. Specifically, work on each farm is expected to include some of the following measures:
- Directed grazing.
- Direct seeding.
- Cover crops and incorporation of these into the soil.
- Composting and compost tea.
- Mulching with wool.
- Biofertilisers and seed coating.
- Techniques to improve water management (keyline, infiltration strips).

Participation requirements
The requirements to apply for participation in the project are:
- Being a professional farmer or farm (natural or legal person). They must be able to show that agriculture is their main source of income.
- Dedicating a minimum of 2,000 m2 to the agricultural practice trials.
- Committing to participate in the project for 2 years. This includes participation in at least 4 co-creation workshops, implementation of the practices, collaboration with the research staff and availability to share and communicate results.
Selection criteria
To select the farms, the following factors will be taken into account:
- Motivation in applying agroecological practices.
- Participation of women and young people will be prioritised.
- The capacity of influence of the person or applying farm, to be able to transmit the results to the widest possible audience.
Detailed selection criteria can be consulted in the attached document (in Catalan).
Calendar and deadlines
The call will open from December 5, 2025 until February 13, 2026. On December 4 and February 4 two different workshops will be organised to explain in more detail the participation conditions and agricultural practices and to answer questions from interested farms.
The co-creation workshops on agricultural practices will take place during the spring of 2026 and their implementation during the agricultural years 26-27 and 27-28.
This call is part of the GOV4ALL project, which is funded by the Horizon Europe programme, within the Soil Mission of the European Union. Participants include GOB Menorca, the San Crispín Cooperative, Räyen Soluciones Agronómicas, and the University of Valencia.
