The controversial text published recently by the Balearic Government that modified more than 50 rules, implies serious consequences in terms of the guarantees for protection of natural resources and the land; and makes a substantial effect to the existing regulatory framework, caused by a totally undemocratic measure such as a decree-law. A decree-law that does not allow in any way the urgency to go beyond social and political debate of unprecedented changes to the regulatory framework.

Read the manifesto against the overcrowding of tourism in Menorca

Last Saturday, the 8th, the Biosphere Square in Maó, where the headquarters of the Island Council is located, was filled with an outcry against the growing tourist overcrowding of the island.

It is highly recommended to read the demands that were raised in the manifesto, because they argue the reasons for the mobilization and go in step with the usual textbook criticism made about these acts.

Complaint to UNESCO for attempted legalization in rural land

The announcement made by the Balearic Government and the Island Governing Council (Consell Insular) to make illegal buildings on rural land legal, will be denounced by GOB to UNESCO. The entity believes that this directly contradicts the spirit of the Reserve of the Biosphere and its regulatory instruments.

1,163 wild animals were attended in 2023

The Annual Report for the Centre for Recuperation of Wild Animals is now available.

As in each year, we continue with our efforts to give assistance to the highest number of injured animals, orphaned, in danger or unwell that enter our installation so that they can recover and be liberated into the wild. Last year, 2023, the number of wild animals receiving attention was a total of 1,163 from 82 different species.
