The third session of the conference series “Resilience in the Face of Climate Change” will take place on Thursday, February 20, at 7:30 PM at the Ateneu de Maó. This event will focus on tourism resilience, highlighting deurbanization and the need to rethink land use through a sustainable lens.

For this session:

  • Yolanda Romero, PhD in Tourism from UCM, will present cases of deurbanization in Spanish coastal tourist areas.
  • Verónica Sánchez, urban architect and representative of n’UNDO, will introduce the “Plan n’2023 de Manilva” which is based on strategies of not doing, redoing, and undoing.
  • Arturo Bagur, former mayor of Maó, will discuss the pioneering case of deurbanization in Albufera des Grau.

The roundtable discussion and debate will be moderated by Miquel Camps, Territorial Policy Coordinator at GOB Menorca.

Like the other sessions in this series, this event will also be livestreamed on the Ateneu de Maó’s channels.

The Resilience in the Face of Climate Change series is organized by Ateneu de Maó, Menorca Preservation, and GOB Menorca.
