The COVID 19 health crisis is being solved, but the resulting economic crisis has only just begun. Now is the time to set out a preferred economic and social plan. Our purchasing decisions can be tools for change, through which we are able to support a new model.
Products from the Land Stewardship Scheme are healthy, produced in an environmentally friendly manner and promote the local economy. They are a commitment to sustainability for the economic and social viability of the Island. What more can you want?
During this next month, everyone who buys products from the Land Stewardship Scheme will be able to participate in a competition. It will be to post photos on the social website of the shopping you have made, or of a dish you have prepared from the products. You should tag the photo GOB (@GOBMenorca and #CustodiaAgraria) and the name of the farm where you made the purchase and the competition (#medfoodheroes y @rootedeveryday). Two photos from all that are published will be selected, and they will each win a quantity of Land Stewardship Scheme products. The photos can be published from 12 May for a month until 12 June.
Buying Land Stewardship Scheme products is very easy. You can do this at farmers markets and some shops and now, more than before, you can have them delivered to your home. This activity is part of a general Mediterranean initiative to celebrate sustainable food, which in Menorca is identified with the products of the Land Stewardship Scheme. Producers who adhere to the Land Stewardship Scheme have signed an Agreement of Sustainable Farming Practices with GOB Menorca, promising to have sustainable management of their farms. These measures cover the types of crops they cultivate, the management of livestock and the management of the farm, its buildings and natural areas.
