The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals will be open until the end of September on Mondays to Saturdays from 18.00 hours until sundown.
Visiting the hospital for wild animals is a unique experience in Minorca putting you in contact with Minorcan animals and their problems. Furthermore you will be helping to make the provision of equipment and aid each year viable for the hundreds of wild animals that have been in accidents.
The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals is open for the public in order to understand the work it does and also with the intention of following up with help for its maintenance. The installations have been made fit to welcome visitors, without causing bother to the animals that are being treated and will be released once they are better.
The compound is divided into the terrarium where tortoises are cared for, the pond for exotic tortoises, the pond for the recuperation of toads and different cages where it is possible to see the iconic wild birds of Menorca. These birds have suffered severe injuries, and once recovered, they will not be able to return to the wild so they stay permanently in the Centre and help us to perform the important work of raising environmental awareness. A series of panels will recount these situations and give details of the species which can be seen.
The visit to the hospital for animals is an option in the visit to the quarries Pedreres de s’Hostal at Lithica. The entrance is in Camí Vell, km 1, near Ciutadella.
