The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals has been open to visits by the public since 1 July. It is an opportunity to take advantage of being able to see the most symbolic animals of Menorcan wild life, to see their problems and how the hospital attempts to remedy them. It is open from Mondays to Saturday from 18.00 hours until sundown. As in other years, on Thursdays there will be workshops for all the family to connect with the animals at the Centre.
The visit is guided and there is a series of descriptive panels that explain the characteristics of the animals and their problems. The route is divided to pass the terrarium, where land tortoises are housed, another pond area for exotic turtles, a pond for the recuperation of toads and then different spaces where you can see falcons, booted eagles, kestrels, barn owls …. These birds have suffered severe injuries and will not be able to survive in the wild, so they stay permanently in the Centre and help us to carry out important work in raising environmental awareness.
Every Thursday from 8 July, different workshops will be organised for all members of the family where we will learn through play different aspects and curiosities of the animals.
The Hospital of Wild Animals is based in the Pedreres de s’Hostal de Lithica (Lithica Quarries). The visit also includes a visit to his marvellous recuperated area. The prices of entry are: 12 year olds free, people over 65 cost 4 euros, others 8 euros. There is a discount for residents: over 65 will cost 3 euros, others 6 euros. The entrance to the Lithica Quarries is on the Camí Vell, Ciutadella km1.
Your visit will help to improve our work. We look forward to seeing you.
