Thursday, February 6: Launch of the “Resilience in the Face of Climate Change” series at Ateneu de Maó

This February, the Ateneu de Maó will host a series of round table discussions focused on resilience in the face of climate change. Organized by the Ateneu de Maó, Menorca Preservation, and GOB Menorca, this series will explore the ecological concept of resilience through concrete experiences in four key areas: agriculture, forest management, tourism development, and the marine environment. Through presentations, discussions, and open debates, the series will highlight strategies and solutions to tackle climate change effects—especially those that require urgent implementation on an island like Menorca, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

GOB Menorca launches a nature group for kids and teens

With the aim of promoting environmental learning through leisure and inspiring a commitment to nature among younger generations, GOB Menorca is launching a nature group for children and teens aged 6 to 15. This initiative will combine educational and fun activities in the outdoors through a monthly excursion.

Although we live in a Biosphere Reserve, many of our children lead predominantly urban lives and are increasingly disconnected from meaningful, sensory, and emotional experiences in nature. At GOB Menorca, we want to offer families an alternative to this reality, similar to our summer camps, but now available during the school year.

Digital tools and keyline design to tackle climate change: Seminar 2025

The use of digital tools to adapt to climate change and the application of keyline design are the focus of the first session of the 2025 Agriculture and Environment Seminar, taking place on Saturday, February 1, at the Audience Hall of the Claustre del Carme in Maó.

The session begins at 9:30 a.m., includes two keynote presentations, and concludes with a lunch. Registration is open via this registration form.

Wednesday, November 13, book presentation: Portfolio 1 – Photographs and Stories of Extraordinary Birds

This coming Wednesday at 7:30 PM, the GOB’s Maó office will host the presentation of Portfolio 1 – Fotografías e historias de aves extraordinarias [Photographs and Stories of Extraordinary Birds], published by Lynx Nature Books. A work by ornithologist and photographer Rafael Armada, who has published in numerous specialized ornithology magazines. His work has illustrated many publications and has earned him multiple awards and recognitions. Also joining the event will be Alejandra Rendón, author of the texts accompanying the images.

Excursion to Son Blanc Nou, Saturday, October 26

With the arrival of autumn, the land stewardship excursions are back! We kick off the season with a visit to one of the newest additions to GOB’s Custòdia Agrària program: Son Blanc Nou, a farm known for its circular model, aiming to produce all the resources it consumes. Participants will have the chance to explore the farm and learn about its agricultural management, followed by a tasting of local products.

It will be a fun-filled morning where a variety of local associations will host workshops and activities aligned with their missions. Through engaging activities, the event aims to highlight the importance of the island’s nonprofit network and encourage everyone to get involved.

September 24th: Family Workshop on the Dangers of Invasive Species at the Wildlife Recovery Center

This Tuesday, September 24th, at 5:30 PM, the Menorca Wildlife Recovery Center will host a family workshop aimed at raising awareness about the dangers that invasive species pose to native wildlife. This activity, marking the final event in the CRFS summer program, will focus on the stories of some exotic animals currently residing at the Center’s hospital, including iguanas and American and African turtles. Through educational games, participants will learn how these animals arrived in Menorca and the risks they pose to local ecosystems.

“Landscape on a Plate: Flavors and Values of Agrarian Stewardship” at the Arrels Fair

This is the title of the guided tasting event we will be hosting on Sunday, September 22nd, at 1:30 PM, at the Arrels Fair, which this year will take place at the Es Mercadal Fairgrounds. During the event, we will present a special menu that embodies the values of Menorca’s mosaic landscape through a series of dishes created and presented by Pep Pelfort, from the Menorca Gastronomic Studies Center.

This Tuesday, August 27th, starting at 6:30 PM, the Menorca Wildlife Recovery Center will host a special family workshop. During this event, we will explore the stories of exotic animals such as iguanas, American and African tortoises, and other species that now reside at our hospital. How did these animals from distant lands find their way to Menorca? Through interactive games, we will learn about these creatures and the challenges that invasive species pose to our native wildlife.
