“Landscape on a Plate: Flavors and Values of Agrarian Stewardship” at the Arrels Fair

This is the title of the guided tasting event we will be hosting on Sunday, September 22nd, at 1:30 PM, at the Arrels Fair, which this year will take place at the Es Mercadal Fairgrounds. During the event, we will present a special menu that embodies the values of Menorca’s mosaic landscape through a series of dishes created and presented by Pep Pelfort, from the Menorca Gastronomic Studies Center.

The activity will be held in the cooking classroom of the fair, with limited seating available. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue on the day of the event. Attendees will not only enjoy the flavors of selected dishes and learn about their historical and nutritional background, but they will also discover what the GOB’s Agrarian Stewardship program is and the values it represents.

The special menu, made entirely with products from Agrarian Stewardship farms, will consist of an apéritif with marinated olives and datil peppers, followed by a second course of local bread and cold cuts (with cured meats, preserves, honey…), and a main course of a vegan version of Punic-style “rice of the land,” featuring a delightful touch of pomegranate. The meal will be accompanied by wine and vermouth.

The Agrarian Stewardship program is an initiative that highlights Menorcan farmers as producers of high-quality food and protectors of the island’s landscape and natural environment. The farms involved are committed to sustainable farming practices, which allow them to produce local foods that prioritize health, environmental respect, and proximity in production.

The Arrels Fair is a key gastronomic event in Menorca, dedicated to promoting local, zero-kilometer products. This year the fair is changing its format and location, moving to the Mercadal Fairgrounds, where it will take place on September 21st and 22nd. The fair will feature more than thirty local product stands, seven of them from Agrarian Stewardship producers, along with live cooking demonstrations, guided tastings, interactive workshops, family activities, and live music. The full program is available on the official website: firaarrels.cime.es.

Join us on September 22nd at 1:30 PM to taste the landscape on your plate.

This event is supported by Menorca Preservation and the Consell Insular de Menorca.
