Strips surrounding the coastline where access is only possible by non-motorised means. This initiative, which has a reference model on the Catalan coast, will be presented in Menorca and discussed by people from different backgrounds.

This Thursday, 9 July, at 7 p.m., the Blue Routes initiative will be presented at the Claustre del Carme in Maó. The proposal, promoted by the Marilles Foundation, aims to define routes and safe areas for non-motorised water activities, such as open-water swimming and snorkelling.

In a context of increasing boating congestion and growing pressure on the coastline, this initiative invites reflection on how to move towards a coastline that better integrates the different activities that coexist there and promotes low environmental impact alternatives.

The event will feature the participation of Miquel Sunyer, creator of the Brave Routes (Vies Braves) on Catalonia’s Costa Brava, as well as a round-table discussion bringing together perspectives from the swimming sector, tourism, public administration and environmental conservation.

The event will serve to present the proposal and share experiences and perspectives on the opportunities offered by a network of Blue Routes adapted to the reality of Menorca.
