The Menorca Wildlife Recovery Centre will open its doors to the public this Sunday, 14 June, for a special open day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as part of the conservation and environmental awareness activities it carries out throughout the year. The Centre operates under an agreement between GOB Menorca and the Consortium for Wildlife Recovery (COFIB), with the supervision of the Balearic Government’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Environment.
An opportunity to get to know the Centre and its residents
Visitors will be able to see the facilities, take part in guided tours, and observe some of the animals housed at the Centre. Animals that are temporarily at the Centre while recovering from injuries or other conditions are kept away from the public to prevent habituation to humans, but it is possible to meet the permanent residents, which cannot be reintroduced into the wild.
The Centre’s staff will explain how it operates and share various facts and curiosities about Menorca’s wildlife.
Access and opening times
The activity is free and open to everyone. Access to the Centre will be through the Lithica – Pedreres de s’Hostal site, which will also hold an open day from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please note that the last entry to the Lithica site is at 1 p.m.; to allow all visitors to leave on time, the Centre will close at 1:30 p.m., as Lithica closes at 2 p.m.
The Menorca Wildlife Recovery Centre looks forward to welcoming you this Sunday. Come and discover, learn and get involved in protecting our wildlife!
