Sending purified water to the lagoon, avoiding the use of lead shot, being able to feed carrion birds or leaving a part of the marine area for fishing only with creel, are some of the proposals that GOB has given recently for a Plan to Restore the Use and Management (Pla Rector d’Ús i Gestió (PRUG)) of the Albufera des Grau natural park. Green and red peppers put colour into our summer dishes. Now is the season and the kitchen and market gardens are full of them. They are a favourite in Menorcan cooking. So, on Sunday 20 August, farmers who are signed up to the Land Stewardship Scheme will be giving away free peppers to their clients at their market in Mahon. This evening a dozen owl chicks will be released that have been looked after by volunteers of the Recuperation Centre of Wild Animals. Each year we wait with great excitement for this date.
