Another red kite electrocuted

There has been another example found of an electrocuted red kite in the Mercadal area. The animal was found at the foot of a pylon and Environmental Agents were in charge of retrieving it.

GOB has written officially to the different institutions as well as the electricity company Endesa to ask that the pylon be insulated as quickly as possible.

Dozens of protected animals are killed each year from electrocution when they land on some of these pylons that are badly designed for wild life. This problem has been known for some decades and for which there seemed no general solution, however, applicable alternatives are known.

The electricity company and the Balearic Government (responsible for the environment) ought to get together to work on this.
