The course of action taken by GOB on the sea environment that it started in Menorca a year and a half ago is giving good results. Recently, a series of measures were approved concerning the seabed because of the action taken. Mongofra, Addaia, Fornells, the Ila de l’Aire and other places, have all benefitted from the conservation projects approved at the last meeting of the Balearic Government’s Posidonia Committee. Make your own nettle purine

This Saturday, 7 March at 10 am, there will be a workshop at Es Viver of GOB to explain how to make a good nettle purine, a remedy for strengthening garden plants. Nettle plants, with waste from the kitchen and garden provide resources for making ecological compost for strengthening plant cultivation or preventing and curing diseases in them. Another hawk shot in Menorca

It has happened again. GOB has made formal reports to SEPRONA (the Guardia Civil Nature Protection Service), to the Department of the Environment and to the Department of Hunting of the Island Governing Council that a hawk has been injured by shooting and is now in the GOB Recuperation Centre for Wild Animals. Nearly every year, protected animals are taken in that are victims of unscrupulous shooting. La Salle d’Alaior adds its agreement to fiestas without plastics

The Salle d’Alaior school has signed an agreement with GOB promising not to use disposable plastic crockery and cutlery for its fiestas and celebrations. Currently, 8.7 million tons of plastics end up on our shores. This number is only 3% of the plastic waste we generate in the world each year and it is rising. Far from being biodegradable, this waste breaks down into smaller pieces entering the food chain through fish, other sea food and salt which we then consume.
