Thursday, family workshop at the Recuperation Centre for Wild Animals

This Thursday, 15 July, from 18.30 we are continuing with activities for all the family at the Centre for Recuperation of Wild Animals. This time we will concentrate on how to discover what birds eat and analyse the uneaten parts that they cannot digest.  You can paint T-shirts, if you wear them, here. Visit the Hospital for Wild Animals this summer

The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals has been open to visits by the public since 1 July.  It is an opportunity to take advantage of being able to see the most symbolic animals of Menorcan wild life, to see their problems and how the hospital attempts to remedy them. It is open from Mondays to Saturday from 18.00 hours until sundown. As in other years, on Thursdays there will be workshops for all the family to connect with the animals at the Centre. Thursday 17 June discussion on today and tomorrow in the agricultural world

The difficulties of the milk subsector; the obstacle of amitgeria (the traditional Menorcan deal between landlords and farmers); the costs and the time that the farmers need to invest in the bureaucracy; the opportunities of new markets; the effects of the arrival of new investors; the strategies for improving the cost effectiveness of agriculture; and other interesting aspects, will be discussed this Thursday at an event organized by GOB. This Saturday, 22 May, a new workshop has been organized at the GOB garden centre, Es Viver. It is on how to prevent and treat pests and diseases in the garden naturally. Preventing and maintaining the gardens free of these problems is perfectly possible without the need of using chemical products that reduce the quality of the crops and the environmental balance of the garden. Participation on bio indicator monitoring in Land Stewardship Scheme

Spring has arrived and with it, the monitoring of bio indicators on farms signed up to the Land Stewardship Scheme. The object of this exercise is to demonstrate, through voluntary participation, the positive relationship between the practice of sustainable farms and biodiversity. Attention given to 1,150 wild animals in 2020

While 2020 was an atypical and critical year for humanity due to the health crisis of COVID 19, nature continued along its way. So much so that the Centre for Recuperation of Wild Animals of Menorca closed the year 2020 with the following figures of 1,154 animals 78 different species given attention, and that was 13 more than admitted during 2019. Thanks to constant public help, the involvement of various volunteers and the work done by the Centre’s personnel, this year the percentage of animal recovery and release has increased by about 38.8%. Public participation in the rescue of the coast: round table this Friday

This Friday, 5 March at 20pm, there will be a round table discussion on examples of public involvement for the rescue of the coast of Menorca.
