Successful recuperation of a flamingo saved after a storm

The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals recently set free an adult male flamingo that had arrived in the island exhausted after the Filomena storm. The recuperation of this bird was particularly complicated but eventually it was possible to liberate it in the Mongofra salt beds, where a group of about forty of these animals are wintering. A virtual seminar on Agriculture and the Environment

How is a deserted farm in Monegros converted, without running water, into an abundant and profitable enterprise? The owner and farmer who has done this, Sergio Alierta, will explain from his first-hand knowledge. This is one of the experiences that was included in the documentary Kiss the Ground which shows how it is possible to film the progress of farm production that manages simply adequate rain water and cattle grazing. Workshop on the influence of the moon on the plants

We have organized a new workshop at Es Viver (GOB’s garden centre) for Saturday 14 November morning, on the influence of the moon on plants. Historically, the phases of the moon have regulated the times for different works to be done in the countryside. Sunday 8 November, excursion to learn about the plants on the hillside of S’Ermità

Next Sunday, 8 November, the botanical group of GOB and IME (Institut Menorquí d’Estudis) have organized a public expedition to learn about plants that grow on the hillside of s’Ermità. Departure will be at 9.00 am and it is expected to finish about 13.30 hours. It is open to everyone and is free, but it is necessary to book, owing to the requirements for COVID. Saturday 3 October, visit to the Binitord Winery

The vineyards and the winery will be visited. There will be an explanation of the type of management carried out and there will be a wine tasting.
