This cultural association in Mercadal has already, and for some time, been using reusable ceramic and glass for their tableware at celebrations, but, even so, they wanted to sign the agreement showing their concerns for the problems of waste plastics in the sea. More fiestas without plastic: a commitment for 2020

The Association of Neighbours of Es Castell has signed an agreement to organise fiestas utilizing reusable or biodegradable products. GOB is promoting a campaign between public organizations so that, when they organise fiestas, plastics for single use only are not utilized. One hundred people took part in collecting plastics from s’Estany

The working day for collecting plastics on Sunday 16 September represented a new demonstration of public awareness. One hundred people signed up for the 8.30 am appointment organized by GOB. Some hours later, at the end, they had collected 475 kilograms of rubbish. Of these, only 36 kilograms were suitable for recycling. About irresponsible irrigation

Menorca has a problem with its reserves of water but the relevant government administrations take no action. GOB decided to take a strong line in order to stop this official level inaction. After a year and half of efforts and the intervention of a lawyer, records became available of three complaints made against irrigation systems that were used in full summer sun in 2016.
