On 1 July, 47 marine turtles born in Sa Mesquida in August 2020 were released. Both private and public groups participated and were involved in the laying, incubation and the development of the hatchlings, but importantly, was the participation of the volunteers who for twenty days and nights watched over the nest. The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals has been open to visits by the public since 1 July. It is an opportunity to take advantage of being able to see the most symbolic animals of Menorcan wild life, to see their problems and how the hospital attempts to remedy them. It is open from Mondays to Saturday from 18.00 hours until sundown. As in other years, on Thursdays there will be workshops for all the family to connect with the animals at the Centre. A total of 35 groups in Menorca, with 273 people, came together in May for the European Days of “Clean Up The Med”. The goal was to find and collect microplastics, which are so difficult to single out. Even so, some groups collected more than 46 kg of waste that was found in their adopted section with a total of 245 kg jointly in one day. The network of those farms that are part of the Land Stewardship Scheme has increased with the incorporation of the Binibò Farm situated to the south of Ciutadella. With some 10 hectares of land, the principal production is from the orchard, a sector rather underrepresented in Menorca (the Island imports 90% of what is consumed from orchard and kitchen gardens).
