Each year dead wild birds are found at the base of some electric pylons. In particular, their design means that certain important birds are electrocuted when they perch on them. For the last twenty years, the Gesa-Endesa-Enel Company has known of the problem as well as the inexpensive way to solve it either by insulating the cables or by making a small change in the design of pylons. Another red kite has been found dead at the bottom of the same electricity pylon on the Camí d´en Kane as the two for which GOB made an official complaint earlier in the year. In view of the lack of an effective answer, GOB will increase the pressure on those in charge of finding a solution to this problem. GOB is asking for a campaign to give information concerning house martins
GOB is worried about the destruction of the nests of house martins which can be observed at this time of the year in the villages of Menorca. The Regional Ministry of the Environment of the Balearic Government and the local Island Government have been asked to start a campaign to give information on the benefits of these birds and explaining the legislation that prohibits the destruction of their nests which results in heavy penalties. A volunteer day
On Sunday 13 March coinciding with the Day of Indigenous Species, some twenty volunteers helped remove exotic succulents at Es Capell de Ferro farm. These plants were grown for many years near houses for decorative purposes and, with time, they have spread invading other species and the vegetation of the area.

Politics and communication can often cause contradicting situations.
