The GOB has identified 23 cases of tourist rentals on rural land in Menorca that are being publicly advertised but do not appear on the official list of authorized establishments from the Insular Council.
For each case, a detailed report has been submitted to the Council’s Tourism Department, providing the location, information about the accommodation, and evidence of the advertisement.
This investigation also revealed that, in a significant number of cases, expansions of the properties had been carried out, likely without proper building permits. These findings have been forwarded to the Urban Planning Consortium for further review.
The GOB hopes that the Insular Council will utilize this information to increase the number of sanction proceedings against illegal accommodations, which contribute significantly to the island’s tourism saturation.
