On Sunday 21 January we will have the first excursion of 2024. It will be to the farm of Binissaida des Barrancons, which has a very old kitchen garden situated in a ravine in the municipality of Es Castell. This farm is part of the Land Stewardship Scheme.

Its main products are vegetables and eggs, produced by regenerative techniques and with organic certification. We will visit different parts of the farm and try its produce.

It will take place in the morning. The visit will cost 12 euros to include a guide, the tasting and a bus back to the meeting point. It is necessary to book using this link.

We will meet at 9.30 near to Sant Lluis. The excursion will include a walk of about 3 kms along the Cami de Cavalls, the guided tour of the farm and a final tasting of its Land Stewardship Scheme products. It is expected to finish at 13.30.

Binissaida des Barranons is a farm modelled for a diversified produce. Its biointensive kitchen garden produces vegetables and aromatic herbs all the year round. The eggs are produced by hens who are able to graze thanks to the use of a mobile chicken coop.

In addition, they produce honey and oil. They sell their products direct to the market and supply weekly boxes by order. They also regularly supply shops and restaurants.

During the visit you will be able to learn what regenerative techniques are, what is meant by a biointensive kitchen garden and an edible woodland, visit the workshop and find out where to get its products.

The Land Stewardship Scheme supports agricultural initiatives committed to a model based on environmental sustainability. To make it viable it is necessary to support them to make sure that they are socially and economically sustainable. These excursions are intended to bring the agricultural world closer to citizens and introduce them to the producers who care for the Menorcan landscape and nature.
