This Summer, Nature and Wildlife Lovers in Menorca Have the Opportunity to Visit GOB’s Wildlife Recovery Center. From Monday, July 1st, until September 30th, the Center will open its doors to the public from Monday to Saturday starting at 6 PM until sunset.
The Center is located within the Pedreres de s’Hostal de Lithica, at Camí Vell de Ciutadella, km 1. This privileged location allows visitors to enjoy an impressive natural environment while discovering the crucial work being done to recover local wildlife.
To access the Center, you must first purchase a ticket to Lithica. The price is €4 for residents and €7 for non-residents. Children under 13 can enter for free. Once inside Lithica, visitors can access the Wildlife Recovery Center for an additional €2, with free admission for children under 13. It is recommended to purchase Lithica tickets in advance through the website: https://lithica.es/.
This is an exceptional opportunity to see iconic animals of Menorca’s wildlife up close, learn about the challenges they face, and understand how the Center is working to address these issues. The visit is guided and features a series of informative panels explaining the characteristics of the animals and their problems. The tour includes several thematic areas:
Terrarium: Where you can see land tortoises.
Exotic Tortoise Pools: A space dedicated to these species.
Toad Recovery Pool: The place to learn about these amphibians.
Bird of Prey Areas: Where you can observe falcons, kestrels, kites, barn owls, and other birds that have suffered severe injuries and cannot be released. These birds remain at the Center and contribute to important environmental education and awareness efforts.
This initiative allows visitors to enjoy an educational and exciting experience. It also helps raise awareness about the importance of protecting and recovering Menorca’s wildlife.
We look forward to seeing you there!
