9 extra pools at another rural tourism establishment in Alaior

Another case has been confirmed involving a rural tourism establishment that, in this instance, has built nine additional pools not included in its approved project. Similar to the well-known Torre Vella case, the authorization had been previously reviewed by the Environmental Commission.

One pool in the authorization, ten pools in reality

The GOB alerted the Urban Planning Enforcement Consortium about the discrepancy between the environmental authorization for the project and its actual implementation.

The Environmental Commission’s report—published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands—mentions a single pool of 233 m². However, aerial photographs reveal that nine smaller pools have been added, collectively at least doubling the size of the originally planned pool.

The Consortium has confirmed the initiation of a disciplinary process, although the expected fine amount has not been disclosed.

Same pool design, same municipality

The unauthorized pools share the same design as those in the Torre Vella case. They are distributed across the area where the tourist accommodation is located, accompanying the different buildings that house the rooms.

This new case also occurred in the municipality of Alaior, close to the previous incident.
