Lithica and GOB invite you to an open day which we have organised for next Sunday 2 June from 10.00 until 14.00 hours, to celebrate the world day for the environment. You have the opportunity to see how the improvement of the magnificent sculptured space of the Pedreres de s’Hostal has advanced, with its different corners, gardens planted with autochthonous plants and its labyrinth and at the same time you will be able to visit the animal hospital found in the interior. Both entities work for the environment in these quarries and we invite you to visit them.

The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals is managed by GOB and looks after a thousand animals a year. In your visit to this hospital you will be able to see close to the species of animals that come in and learn the work done to make it possible for them to return to the wild. Most of those taken in are as a result of human activity: nests in urban areas, abuses, collisions with cables and windows, attacks by pets, accidents from agricultural machinery, invasive species etc. We try to diminish the effects on the wild animals and also study solutions.

The Centre for the Recuperation of Wild Animals functions thanks to an agreement with COFIB (Consortium for the Recovery of Fauna in the Balearic Islands) and help from the Consell Insular through the Menorca Agency of the Reserve of the Biosphere as well as the town councils of Ciutadella, Mahon, Es Mercadal, Ferreries, Sant Lluís and Es Castell. Even so, the help of private subscribers is essential and you can sponsor some of the animals at https://aporta.goobmenora.com. In addition there is the dedication of volunteers who help with a multitude of tasks in this hospital.

This open day has the help of the Ciutadella Town Council.

The animal hospital is found in the Pedreres de s’Hostal  which is managed by Lithica on the Camí Vell km1.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
