From Monday 1 July we are opening the Wildlife Animal Recovery Centre to the public on Mondays to Saturdays from 18.00 hours to sunset, until the end of September. This is an opportunity of being able to see, close up, the wild animals that are symbolic of Menorca, to know their problems and see how this hospital tries to remedy them.
The route goes into the area of the terrarium, where land tortoises are welcomed, where there are pools for the exotic turtles, and a pool for the recovery of toads. Then there are different cages where you can see hawks, kites, vultures, owls…These birds have suffered severe injuries and will not be able to survive in the wild, so they stay permanently in the Centre and help us to carry out the important work of environmental awareness. The visits are guided and in addition there are information boards explaining the characteristics of the animals and their problems.
The Animal Hospital is within the Lithica Quarry (Pedreres de s´Hostal). On your visit you can also enjoy this marvellous restored quarry. The prices of entry are: up to 12 years old free; over 65 will be 4 euros and the rest 7 euros. The entrance to the Lithica Quarry is 1 km along the Camí Vell of Ciutadella.
Your visit will help us with our work. We look forward to seeing you!
