This Sunday, 5 June, will be an open day at the Centre of Recuperation for Wild Animals in Ciutadella. It is an opportunity to visit it on the Open Doors day between 10.00 and 14.00 hours. You will be able to see the animals that live there and to learn about the work that is done to look after the wild animals of Menorca. This open day is made possible with the help of Lithica and the Ciutadella Town Hall, to celebrate the World Day of the Environment.
The Animal Hospital gives attention to over a thousand animals each year. The majority of those taken in result from human activities: nests in built up areas, accidents, collisions with electric cables and windows, attacks from pets, accidents with agricultural machines, invasive species, etc. We try to alleviate our impact on wildlife and so study how to solve the problems.
The Centre of Recuperation for Wild Life functions with an agreement with COFIB, (Balearic Consortium for the Recuperation of Wild Animals) and aid from the Consell Insular (Island Government), through the Agency of the Menorca Reserve of the Biosphere, the Town Halls of Ciutadella, Maó, Es Mercadal, Ferreries, Sant Lluis and Es Castell. Fundamental, also, is the help of private indviduals who sponsor a resident animal.
as well as the huge dedication of volunteers who help with the numerous tasks the hospital requires.
The Animal Hospital is located in the Pedreres de s’Hostal in Ciutadella on the Cami Vell Km1.
