More fiestas without plastic: a commitment for 2020

The Association of Neighbours of Es Castell has signed an agreement to organise fiestas utilizing reusable or biodegradable products. GOB is promoting a campaign between public organizations so that, when they organise fiestas, plastics for single use only are not utilized. Keeping an eye on posidonia

Posidonia has been protected since 1992, but, even so, it has continued to suffer from various adverse impacts on it which have reduced its colonies. Now with the recent approval of the Balearic Government decree on its conservation, we have more tools with which to make effective protection. If we see boats anchored over posidonia we can phone 112 so that the mechanisms of surveillance and sanctions can be activated as stipulated by the new regulations. A report to the new Minister regarding the central electricity power station

GOB has sent a complete report on the environmental problems generated by the central electricity power station in Mahon to the new Minister of Energy and the Environment, in the transitional government in Madrid, Teresa Ribera, asking for favourable regulations concerning renewable energies in order to reduce contamination. GOB notes the stagnation of politics in environmental protection of the land and sea

The different island sections of GOB came together over the days of 15 and 16 June, in Mallorca, for the meeting of the Inter Island Board of Directors. This reunion happens annually, rotating between the various Balearic Islands. On this occasion a résumé of their activities and the interisland accounts were given for 2017, audited externally.
