The laying of the eggs by a marine turtle on a Menorcan beach has been one of the events of this summer. Both the management of the spawning and of the young that now, happily, are hatching, have produced many questions from the public. We will try to answer them.

Monitors for fishing produced fewer than 90% disciplinary proceedings in 2019 although fishing was normal before COVID19. GOB will ask to have meetings to find out the reasons for this spectacular decrease. The sum of the Guardia Civil, the two fishing inspectors and the three monitors of the Marine Reserve of the north of Menorca, produced only five open disciplinary proceedings. The case of the aquatic park at Biniancolla has just had a new episode written in which the Supreme Court refuses to review the sentence that declared it illegal. More and more blue crabs are being seen on the coast of Menorca. They are considered to be one of the most invasive species of the Mediterranean. We have asked the Ministry of the Environment of the Balearic Government to persuade the professional fishing industry to catch this species, as a way of controlling its population. Another hawk was found shot and then taken to the Wildlife Recuperation Centre. The x-ray shows that this bird had survived a shooting from another time. The new attack produced inoperable injuries. This case has been reported to SEPRONA, the Guardia Civil service that deals with hunting and environmental protection issues. Public help is important in trying to eradicate these shameful events practiced by a minority of people that cause a great deal of harm.
