Menorca needs to think urgently about using energy which is 100 % renewable. To make 600 km of ditches for pipelines to bring natural gas to houses is a grave mistake which will stop the possibility of switching to renewable energy. Continue reading What is wrong with gas?→
The GOB nursery garden of Menorcan plants now has ready ecological winter bedding plants of local varieties for the vegetable garden. This is the time for lettuces, endives, cauliflowers, onions… Local varieties allow us to harvest quality products while managing our vegetable gardens in an environmentally friendly way.
Es Viver has also aromatic and culinary plants, traditional Menorcan plants for cut flowers and other indigenous plants suitable for our gardens to adapt to the island’s conditions.
Es Viver is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 1.30 pm. It is found on the airport road at the side of Mestral.

After many months of rest, this next Sunday, 4 October, another “excursion on foot” has been organised to visit a beautiful part of the countryside and to include seeing the renovation which has been made of a well known water cistern. We will walk in the area of two gullies which feed into Son Bou.
Meet in the car park of Son Bou at 9.30 am. The walk will start at 10 am. The excursion on foot will finish at Daia Vell. Itinerary will include spectacular views. It is a guided walk especially to see the renovated water cistern. The walk is of mixed difficulty (the path is easy but the first part is a little bit of a struggle). A bus will return everyone to the beginning of the walk and will cost 3 euros each. The estimated time of the end of the walk is 13.30.
GOB matters is a section of Roqueta, a monthly magazine in English, written by Chita Laurie.
GOB Menorca is the association which promotes responsible ecological management for the island. It brings to the attention of the public proposals which could adversely affect its integrity and character upsetting the island’s ecology and its economic viability. Many thousands of people have been brought together to protest against the disproportionate works proposed for the main road between Mahon and Ciutadella. Once the works started, many more people clamoured to have them halted, to think again before the island’s uniqueness was lost and before millions of euros were misspent on megaroundabouts quite out of keeping for a small island.
