The consumption of bottled water is provoking a large increase in plastic waste. In our islands there are initiatives to change this tendency and it is very interesting to learn about them. This Wednesday, 10 April, there is a talk in Mahon organised by CleanWave, which promotes the installation of places for providing drinking water without plastic containers. This Saturday, 30 March, at GOB’s Es Viver, we will have a practical workshop on how to prevent and treat, in an ecological way, the pests and diseases of the garden and kitchen garden. Next Sunday, 10 March, we have organised a public excursion to learn about the plants of the Binicalaf road. This is the time of the year in which we begin to find many plants in flower, amongst them the orchids. On Sunday 3 February there will be an excursion to the archaeological sites of Binicalsitx, Binimassó and Calafi. These archaeological remains are not very well known and form part of the long list of sites of Menorca which testify to the existence of prehistoric settlements. In Bincalsitx there is an enormous talayot, at Binimassó there is a table enclosure and at Calafi there are two talayots and a small hypogeum (a subeterranean construction).
Interested people should meet at the Ferreries cemetery at 9.30 to leave at 10 am. It is a walk of low difficulty. The visit will be guided by an archaeologist. The return will be by foot to the start. It is not necessary to reserve. It is expected to end by 13.30. It is recommended to share cars with friends.

This Saturday, 19 January at 10 am, Quel Marquès will give a workshop in Es Viver of GOB on roof gardens, a different form of gardening from usual. Roofs, flat roofs and walls have the capability of being converted into green spaces. The workshop will explain where and how to do them and what benefits they will give.
