Another red kite has been found dead at the bottom of the same electricity pylon on the Camí d´en Kane as the two for which GOB made an official complaint earlier in the year. GOB is asking for a campaign to give information concerning house martins
GOB is worried about the destruction of the nests of house martins which can be observed at this time of the year in the villages of Menorca. The Regional Ministry of the Environment of the Balearic Government and the local Island Government have been asked to start a campaign to give information on the benefits of these birds and explaining the legislation that prohibits the destruction of their nests which results in heavy penalties. GOB reported a new case of a falcon wounded by a shotgun which was taken recently to the Recuperation Centre for Wild Animals. It is the third falcon in the last five years to be brought in for the same reason adding to the number of other protected birds at the Centre such as the eagle and the kestrel.
